Ideally located near the slopes of the Massif des Maures, close by Pierrefeu-du-Var, and not too far from Hyères and the Iles d'Or, the stopover gite lies at the hamlet of La Portanière, on the line of the GR 51, termed "the balcony of the Mediteraneam sea" wich connect La Madrague (between Cassis and Marseille) to Menton, through the enchanting massifs oh the Calanques, the Maures and the Esterel.
The gite was previously an elementary school of the thirties. A typical bell-tower still remains of it.

Local paths are know to delight the excursionnists with less ambitions claims by offering them courses marked out from the gite.
